Grubby’s Poke & Fish Market

Love their food everytime. Great staff, great atmosphere, great location. My friends and I LOVE this place :)

Always get their Large bowl -- it's so worth the extra two proteins for another $2.00! :) Great place nearby if you just finished working out and need a place to hit up for some good food after your gym session!

Was greeted by Patricia and Katie as I opened the door.

They created a welcoming environment the moment you step in. Would like to compliment Patricia for my initial experience here at Grubbys.

I visited today a second time 4.20.24 and Katie remembered who I was. She personalized service by making conversation. Turns out we have the same familial roots in the Philippines.

The fish is always fresh! Portions are excellent. I usually south between salmon, tuna, and spicy tuna and swap out rice and salad for the base. Medium spicy for the house sauce and always seaweed salad!

All of the staff are super friendly and upbeat. You're always welcomed right as you walk in the door!

The restaurant is clean and spacious! It's super convenient being at the mall in Carlsbad but on the outside!

Go to Grubbys! You'll love it!

Obviously, my favorite poke place will always be HFS, but this place was pretty solid. The fish tasted fresh and melted in my mouth. They let you add eight different toppings and adding avocado isn't extra. I like how they have a ton of different fish and sauces mixed. I wish they gave more fish in the bowl, but they gave a lot of toppings. I would come back here if I was in the area, but I prefer going to HFS for poke.

Wonderful Ahi Poke! Made to order with your fav toppings. I got the Regular small version with Ahi, cucumber, seaweed, edamame, green onions, sesame topping& rice for base. Perfectly spiced. I also ordered a green tea with lychee. Yum! Foodie Heaven!

I had to try this place while at a soccer tournament in Oceanside due to the overwhelming yelp reviews. It's super clean inside and service is excellent. We took 4 build your own poke bowls to go and had 4 large bobas. The fish was fresh but there were some extra chewy pieces that had an aftertaste. They give you tons of add on options and sauces but where our bowls went wrong was the white rice. It was so overcooked and mushy it ruined the whole bowl.

The boba was just average. My black tea mango fruit tea with lychee jelly was really sweet. The boys enjoyed their milk tea bobas.

The price tag for 3 regular bowls, a mini bowl and 4 bobas was a bit over $100 so it's not a cheap lunch. Not sure if it's worth the price tag.

Great food but weird service! I came in sometime around noon yesterday and my bowl was delicious and fresh but one of the employees working yesterday the man with the piercing in his face kept calling me dude and as a woman, I thought it was disrespectful and straight up weird! He called me dude about 10 times he also proceeded to call the person in line behind me dude and he was a businessman dressed in a suit. I just think it's unprofessional and immature behavior. The other guy working on shift with him was very respectful and professional and provided great service he was asking people how their day was going and taking the lead on everything so the other guy could slack off. It was kind of night and day between the two employees!

Really excited that Grubby's has another concept and that it is poke! This poke bowl is far and above better. I love poke but here the servings are BIG and there are more "free" options. They don't count crab salad as a "protein"- it's just a topping. Avocado is also included.

This will be my new regular spot. If you have never heard of Grubbys before they also have incredible Mexican food. The Grubby's poke is at the Cbad mall that is on the border of Oceanside off the 78.

I kept seeing this shop pop up on my IG and the poke looked really good. I had to make it my mission to check it out! So when my cousin was visiting, I dragged us to check it out after seeing the Carlsbad Flowers Field.

It's located next to Luna Grill in the Shoppes at Carlsbad in Carlsbad. There's a huge parking lot with ample stalls that won't ever be a problem. I didn't realize the shop was within a "shopping mall" until my cousin and I pulled up. It definitely threw us off. But we couldn't wait to try the poke bowls!

Similar to many mainland poke shops (sorry, not sorry LOL), it's a build-your-own bowl concept. I got a regular bowl with half white rice and half cucumber salad. It came with two proteins. I chose the Salmon and Spicy Tuna. I didn't realize the sauces were mixed together with the fish... so I accidentally chose two: ginger ponzu and spicy mayo. And that made my meal kind of unbearable LMAO. I also accidentally added more sauce on top afterwards... the sauce additions were my biggest mistake as I felt I couldn't taste the fish afterwards. I wished the worker told me the sauces were going to be mixed together with the fishes saaaad. I was definitely grateful that there were sides to add in to help balance the overwhelming amount of sauces I accidentally added in. I chose the spicy krab salad, avocado, furikake, fried onion, masago, green onion, and cucumber. My overall bowl was just meh and not very memorable at all.

My cousin was also confused by the mixing of the sauces and proteins. His was also very overwhelming with flavors and couldn't taste the fish.

I feel like our first time here was a poor choice of creating our bowls LOL. If I'm back in the area, I would definitely want to give this shop another try and base my rating more on the proteins bringing out the bowl.
