IT’S OFFICIAL: Burgeon is 1% for the Planet certified!!!! Y’all, sh*t just got real. Partnering with 1% for the Planet means that we proudly take responsibility for the health of our planet by donating 1% of annual sales to environmental partners who are vetted and approved based on the highest standards imaginable. BIG. THINGS. HAPPENING.⁠ ⁠ SeaTrees by Sustainable Surf is carbon emissions’ worst nightmare, and that’s why we selected them as our 1% for the Planet-approved beneficiary of the 7th Anniversary Invitational. They get down & dirty in blue carbon coastal ecosystems to plant & restore CO2-sucking flora in key areas across the globe, and we’re throwing them a huge chunk o’ change to support their herculean efforts. WHY? Because we love them & they’re cool folks. BUT ALSO because 1% for the Planet & The Change Climate Project gave their projects a wholehearted stamp of approval, which means the dollars we donate go above & beyond progress toward neutrality. These partnerships put us on the path to net zero, and we are here for it - today, tomorrow, & forever.⁠ ⁠ Burgeon is now the first brewery to achieve 1% for the Planet, Climate Neutral, and Ocean+Positive certification. Burgeon is now Climate Neutral Certified!!! Climate leadership is important to our team and our community, and we are embarking on the journey to a net-zero future by making it official with the world’s leading independent climate action label.⁠ ⁠ The Change Climate Project means BUSINESS folks. They provide companies with concrete methods to measure our carbon inventory, compensate for our footprint by removing climate pollution outside of our supply chain through high-quality carbon credits, and commit to reduction strategies that make our business & products (BEER!) more sustainable.⁠ ⁠ The Climate Neutral Certification is our loud & passionate response to nature’s urgent call for businesses like ours to get real about the climate crisis. We’re poised to get some meaningful sh*t done by committing to two major reduction strategies for 2024, and this Anniversary sustainability push is only the beginning. HUGE NEWS: Burgeon is officially Ocean+Positive!!! In anticipation of our 7th Anniversary, we felt the urgent call to go bigger with climate action than we ever have before. We believe that businesses should lead the charge in response to the planet’s climate crises, and SeaTrees provides a solution for brands to take meaningful action by wiping out the carbon dioxide that we’ve previously emitted.⁠ ⁠ After thoroughly measuring our carbon inventory, we were able to ass-certain that our footprint amounts to 844 tons of CO2, which we have compensated for through the purchase of over $18.5k in Verra-certified carbon offsets from the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project in Cambodia and by planting 2,532 mangrove trees Kenya. This is the REAL DEAL, folks, and through this climate action, we have become the first brewery to earn the non-profit’s Ocean+Positive recognition! We’re stoked to be taking our partnership with SeaTrees to the next level and this announcement is just the beginning of what we’ve got in store for our 7th Anniversary & sustainability plans for the coming year. We paddled out in La Jolla with our RAD @SeaTrees friends and some of their fellow brand partners to get a tour of the local kelp forest restoration site and an update on the important work happening with the Kelp Restoration Science Initiative! We are honored and stoked to support their efforts & be a part of making a DIFFERENCE for our planet through #beerforgood ! We’ve got more to say on that later, but for now, we’d like to say, thank you so much for doin’ the dang thing with us & makin’ waves! This is what it’s all about, fam! 💙⁠ ⁠
