Growing up in the east coast Amaro wanted to emulate the practices of Bruce Lee. At 13 years of age Amaro learned to box and weight lift at the Boy’s Club as a way to emulate some of Bruce Lee’s practices. It was through these processes that Amaro came to realize that to endure these challenges he had to be in shape to build on his stamina and endurance. When Amaro became an adult and moved to California he got a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Still he felt the need to further build on his skill set. He practiced Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, Kali Escrima, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Hapkido etc.
Through research Amaro found Richard Bustillo a protege of Bruce Lee’s who owned a martial arts studio. He was the owner and founder of the IMB Academy. It stood for Internationall Martial Arts and Boxing Academy. On December 22, 2012 Amaro was given the student of the year award that was presented to him by his mentor Richard Bustillo.
